Instead, the A’s can play a different song in accordance to the situation of winning or losing the game while keeping the tradition of playing MC Hammer. When the Oakland Athletics are winning, they can play MC Hammer’s ‘Turn this Mutha Out’ or ‘Gaining Momentum’. It is a good song to hear every once in awhile, but to hear it on a daily basis would get on anyone’s nerves. That is what A’s players have to hear every home game for 81 games during the season. It would make more sense when the A’s are losing during the game to play ‘2 Legit 2 Quit’ to pump up the small crowd of fans and A’s players to say ‘we will come back and win this game because we wont quit.’ If the A’s are winning, why are they playing the song? Now, they are just playing the song just to play the song. It is always good to acknowledge and embrace the past, but the A’s need to stop playing ‘2 Legit 2 Quit’ during every home game - especially the games they are winning.Įven during the rare times when the Athletics are winning this season, the song ‘2 Legit 2 Quit’ is blasting out of the speakers during the 8th inning.
